Vista and Atheros .11n cards

I have a Thinkpad T61 and just finished taking it apart to replace the wireless card with an a/b/g/n card. I don't know what chipset it is - it just comes up as "Atheros 11a/b/g/n". I allowed Vista to go hunt for a driver on its own, and it installed driver version 7.3.1.127 dated 10/17/2007.

Question for the community: Should I leave this alone (it seems to work adequately, though I haven't done any stress testing) or go to the Lenovo website and grab the latest and greatest they post? When this laptop was running Windows XP, I used the latest Lenovo driver and had lots of problems with it - ended up having to revert to an older version.

What's the group wisdom here?

Re: Vista and Atheros .11n cards

Jon,

There's a good chance this is the Atheros AR5008 chipset. I did a quick search for the latest drivers on this and found a few relevant links:

http://www.atheros.cz/download.php?atheros=AR5008&system=3
http://www.new-drivers.com/files/Wifi/Atheros/?gclid=CL--ssnImZoCFRFWagodBxu_9w

The latest appears to be 7.6.0.154, it may be worth a try if you're experiencing problems. Not sure about the Lenovo driver support.

I'd get the latest from the Lenovo site.
