Jun 29, 2014 11:16 PM

Linux Installer Instructions:
1. Download the External Data Puller application from our support site under the Software Downloads -> ClearPass -> Tools -> External Data Puller directory.

http://support.arubanetworks.com/DOWNLOADSOFTWARE/tabid/75/DMXModule/510/EntryId/11857/Default.aspx

2. Install the 'rpm' file on a Linux system by issuing the following command:

rpm -Uvh <filename>
We have tested the installer with CentOS 5.3/5.4 versions. Installer should be compatible with any Linux distributions supporting RPM installations.

3. The configuration directory of the application is --

/usr/local/avenda/datapuller/etc
4. After the installation, edit the "datapuller.conf" in the configuration directory to provide the following details :

-- eTIPS/CPPM Server IP Address (only one node in the cluster is required)
-- Administration username [UI username 'admin']
-- Administration password

If required create a separate External Data Puller Service account with Super Administrator privileges on the eTIPS Administration.

5. Restart the "avenda-ext-backup" Service.

/sbin/service avenda-ext-backup restart
6. Once the service is up and running, it downloads the configuration backup files from the eTIPS clusters and stores them in the following directory.

"/var/avenda/datapuller/downloads/config-info/"

This location can be altered by modifying the "datacollector.conf" in the config directory.

Windows Installer Instructions:
1. Download the External Data Puller application from our support site under the Software Downloads -> ClearPass -> Tools -> External Data Puller directory.

ExtDataPuller_64.zip <-- Windows 64-bit installer
ExtDataPuller_32.zip <-- Windows 32-bit installer

http://support.arubanetworks.com/DOWNLOADSOFTWARE/tabid/75/DMXModule/510/EntryId/11857/Default.aspx

2. Extract the installer into a folder and run "setup.exe". Depending on the architecture of the system, the application installs either in "C:/Program Files" or "C:/Program Files (x86)"

3. The configuration directory of the application is --

$INSTALL_ROOT/AvendaSystems/ExtDataPuller/etc
4. After the installation, edit the "datapuller.conf" in the configuration directory to provide the following details :

-- eTIPS/CPPM Server IP Address (only one node in the cluster is required)
-- Administration username
-- Administration password

If required create a separate External Data Puller account on the eTIPS Administration.

5. Restart the "Avenda External Data Puller Client" Service.

6. Once the service is up and running, it downloads the configuration dumps from the eTIPS cluster and stores it in the following directory.

"C:/AvendaSystems/ExtDataPuller/var/downloads/config-info"

This location can be altered by modifying the "datacollector.conf" in the config directory.

Once setup, this service periodically downloads the configuration database.
