How do I change the administrator password for an NAC appliance?

Product and Software: This article applies to all ECS product and software versions.

Securing your NAC appliance starts with using a strong password for administrator access. This is different than changing passwords for the NAC appliance GUI .

This solution describes how to use SSH to change the administrator password on your NAC appliance.

Requirements
Procedure
If you have more than one NAC appliance, change the passwords on all applicable servers.

1) Run the ssh software to connect to the NAC appliance (for example: run putty.exe, and specify the hostname or IP of the appliance).

2) At the login prompt, type the username:
>login as: admin
3) At the prompt, enter the passwd command:
>passwd
4) At the prompt, enter the current (old) password:
Old Password: <old-password>
5) When prompted, enter the new password:
New Password: <new-password>
6) At the prompt, reenter the new password:
Reenter New Password: <new-password>
Password changed.
7) Close the session:
exit
