How to install a patch on CPPM

Aruba Employee

This article talks about installing a patch on CPPM form GUI and CLI.

Environment : This Article is written  for CPPM 6.2.0 and greater.

Below are the detailed steps to install a Patch on CPPM.

1: If CPPM can reach internet, the available patch list will show up under the "Administration » Agents and Software Updates » Software Updates " tab and we would just need to hit download and install buttons available on the screen. If no updates are available we would want to hit "Check Status" on the page and re-run the status check.

2: If CPPM cannot reach internet, then we would have to download the patch manually from the Aruba Support Site
( support.arubanetworks.com) and upload it from the "Administration » Agents and Software Updates » Software Updates " tab.

Once the file is uploaded, we can install it from GUI or CLI.

From GUI, we just need to hit the install key available on the page.

We can run the below command from the CLI to install the patch.

Say, the file name is "CPPM-x86_64-20130820-clearpass-6.2-updates-1-patch.zip.signed".

We would run "system update –i CPPM-x86_64-20130820-clearpass-6.2-updates-1-patch.bin”."

Note that the extension of the file is replaced by .bin in the CLI.

How do we verify that the patch is successfully installed ?

On any tab of CPPM, we would see the Version details of it as shown below.
