Setting up local machine as a subscriber to 10.30.156.119
INFO - Local checks before adding subscriber passed
ERROR - Connection to publisher failed. Please check that:
ERROR - 1) Publisher IP address and cluster password is valid and synchronized
ERROR - 2) Publisher is up and accessible from this machine
ERROR - Adding entry to publisher failed
ERROR - Check that publisher is accessible and the password is correct
ERROR - Setting up subscriber failed

Make subscriber failed

Cause : There may be a couple of reasons for the failure.

ERROR - 1) Publisher IP address and cluster password is valid and synchronized.
This is caused if the cluster password is not same on all the nodes. ( check the Resolution of this article for the steps to change it)

ERROR - 2) Publisher is up and accessible from this machine.
This is caused when there is no connectivity between the two nodes of the CPPM. A ping test from the CLI of each node would help to analyze this.

Resolution : Best Practices to be followed while creating a cluster or joining  a node to the cluster.

1: Take configuration backup of both/all servers before joining them to cluster.
2: Make sure both servers are on same CPPM version (major version and minor version)
3: Make sure that the time is correct on all the servers, ideally all of them should be synced with a NTP.
4: Make sure that the Cluster password is same on all the nodes.

Take configuration backup of both/all servers before joining them to cluster.
Login to CPPM and navigate to "Administration » Server Manager » Server Configuration" and take a backup.

We may either leave the backup on the server or download it to the local machine. its recommended to collect the backup on a local machine.

NOTE: The versions should be exactly same. 6.3.0.60730 is not same as 6.3.0.60537

Make sure that the time is correct on all the servers, ideally all of them should be synced with a NTP.

Login to CPPM and navigate to "Administration » Server Manager » Server Configuration" and click on "Set Date & Time"

Once all of the above is taken case, click on the "Make Subscriber" link and provide the details of the Publisher. We would see the success message as shown below.
