APs rebooting randomly

In the last couple of days approximately 5 AP125 in the same controller started to reboot .

- We haven't made any big changes
- The APs are not attached to the same switch
- We are currently running 5.0.3.3

All these APs are attached to the same controller but are located in different buildings and switches.

We also nooticed that the radio isn't doing the normal renew but a full DHCP discover process each time (and not on the renewal time schedule...)

Any suggestions ?

Thank you

Re: APs rebooting randomly

Are these regular Campus APs, or Remote APs?
Do you have Control Plane Security Enabled?
What is your current DHCP scope lease time (clients normally try to renew and 50% of this interval)?

If you want this to be looked at immediately, please open a support case with TAC:

These are campus APs

Do you have Control Plane Security Enabled?

We do have CPSec enabled, we might be looking at disabling this.

What is your current DHCP scope lease time (clients normally try to renew and 50% of this interval)?

3 Hours , we need to change this

I already open a ticket with them.

Thanks for responding.

Re: APs rebooting randomly

Control plane security is not bad. Just a question.

We observed a very short dhcp lease for the aps elsewhere causing them to reboot, but it has not been conformed.

Since you have a case open, please post the result when you get it, so we can all gain from it.

AP's rebooting

I beleive this is a code issue (seemed to also be present in previous versions of 5 code as well). I have talked with others reporting the same issue. I have a ticket open with TAC on this issue

Re: APs rebooting randomly

If it is a code issue, what is the cauae? Please publish when there is a conclusion and it has been replicated

Re: APs rebooting randomly

Support suggested I upgrade to 5.0.4.0. In the release notes for this new version there are fixes for various bootstrapping issues being reported. While support is not able to identify my specific issue, this was their suggestion in order to futher troubleshoot.

I just upgraded to 5.0.4.0 last night. My previous issue was sporactic reboots of various AP's and recently 1 AP constantly boootstraping. Support had me purge the AP that was doing the constant bootstrapping prior to the upgrade and this did not work. No after the upgrade I have 2 AP's constantly bootstrapping and I beleive I will continue to see the sporatic bootstrapping form various other AP's as well
