What is the best practice in mixing environment of AP-65 and AP-105?

Hello,

Aruba is no longer sale AP-65 or AP-70 but replacing them with AP-105 802.11abgn. For the customer with hundred of 802.11abg APs and now adding 802.11abgn in the mix, what is the best configuration to support all a, bg and n clients. Here are a few scenarios I have tried and observed:

  • Provision AP-105 in the same ap-group with AP-65, disable “High throughput enable” in radio profile: this is a waste of AP-105, but it seems to work for all clients without dropping.
  • Provision AP-105 in the same ap-group with AP-65, but enable “High throughput enable” in radio profile: work for all clients, n clients are happy with high throughput especially guest, but “corp-net” clients always prefer abg and drop out when roaming from AP-65 to AP-105.
  • Create a new ap-group just for AP-105, enable “High throughput enable” in radio profile, keep AP-65 in its old profile with disable “High throughput enable” in radio profile: cumbersome, but it seems to work, clients are still dropping when roaming. For the new area with only AP-105, this is the best configuration.

Any thoughts?
