Cannot get Cloud Activation Key on IAP105 6.3.1.2

Hi all,

I got 12 IAP on version 6.3.1.2-4.0.0.2_41506

I can find the Cloud Activation Key on 3 of them, but, for the other, there is no line "cloud activation key".

I don't understand, all AP are on the same version.

If someone have got an idea, I will take it !

Thanks for your Help.

Can the IAP get out to the Internet?    The Cloud Activation key may not show up until the IAP has a chance to go out and contact Activate for the first time (I have witnessed this as well).   Give the IAP a few minutes and check again.

Ok, thanks for the reply.

-> I think that you have resolve my problem because the system administrator has new rules on his firewall today.

I will try this and I will say you if it's ok or not.

Thanks again!

Re: Cannot get Cloud Activation Key on IAP105 6.3.1.2

From the CLI of the AP, I can Traceroute to Internet (199.27.105.185 Ip of Aruba).

But when I try to upgrade the AP, I have this error : "received no reponse from server" (I do it just to test the connection to internet)

And I have no more "Cloud Activation Key" .

What do mean when you say "few" minutes? :)

Can the IAP get to device.arubanetworks.com via HTTPS (TCP 443)?   You may need to verify firewall logs to see if this is getting through.

Re: Cannot get Cloud Activation Key on IAP105 6.3.1.2

I test that IAP get to device.arubanetworks.com by pinging it:

AP10-Bat2-j13# ping device.arubanetworks.com
Press 'q' to abort.
PING device.arubanetworks.com (199.27.105.185): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 199.27.105.185: icmp_seq=0 ttl=52 time=183.1 ms
64 bytes from 199.27.105.185: icmp_seq=1 ttl=52 time=183.9 ms
64 bytes from 199.27.105.185: icmp_seq=2 ttl=52 time=181.0 ms
64 bytes from 199.27.105.185: icmp_seq=3 ttl=52 time=182.0 ms
64 bytes from 199.27.105.185: icmp_seq=4 ttl=52 time=182.1 ms

--- device.arubanetworks.com ping statistics ---
5 packets transmitted, 5 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 181.0/182.4/183.9 ms
AP10-Bat2-j13#

But, how can I test via HTTPS (443)?

-> I can connect to https://device.arubanetworks.com/ with my laptop in the same vlan.

I have found this log in CLI with the command "show log system":

...

"Jan  1 03:22:29  cli[1087]: <341005> <ERRS> |AP AP10-Bat2-j13@10.25.1.91 cli|  APAS provision failed, code: connection-failed

AP10-Bat2-j13# sh apas status

APAS Status          :connection-failed
AP10-Bat2-j13#

I got info on the APAS protocol here :

http://www.arubanetworks.com/techdocs/Instant_40_Mobile/Advanced/Content/CLI_commands/show%20apas.htm

I think it could be my problem? But I don't know how to solve it...

Thanks for your help again and sorry for my bad english.

Regards.

Re: Cannot get Cloud Activation Key on IAP105 6.3.1.2

Since the result of that command (show apas status) says :connection-failed, then it cannot reach the activate server.

Have your firewall team check logs to see if they can see anything in the logs.    Can you take the IAP to another network (or home) to see if it is able to connect?  Do you have other IAPs?  Are they getting out?

Re: Cannot get Cloud Activation Key on IAP105 6.3.1.2

Hi all,

Thanks for the answer!

I've no access to the log of firewall, so I take the AP to my network with DHCP where there is an IAP which is well working with an activation Key.

So by the command "setenv ipaddr" "setenv netmask" "setenv gatewayip", I push my new lan IP... but I have still the same problem...

I try to push the IP of my DNS to the AP but I've still the same problem...

To finish:

I have purge all the config then reboot the IAP to work in DHCP mode and no more in static mode -> Now, all is OK !!!!!

I have an APAS Status :

9c:1c:12:c9:6c:5b# sh apas status

APAS Status          :fail-prov-no-rule
9c:1c:12:c9:6c:5b#

I have a Cloud Activation Key

and when I try to get the New Version, the check is ok.

So, All is ok for me now, but, if someone can explain me why...?

I discuss about it with a coworker and he explain me that before (oldest versions) there was no way to put the AP in static mode, DHCP was mandatory.

Does there is a little bug in static mode ?

How can I "printenv" in DHCP mode ? For me I can only access to "printenv" when I hit enter to stop autoboot, but in DHCP mode, there is no "printenv" before the autoboot...
