Problem with telnet session timeout on IAP 105

Hi,

I have an issue with IAP 105, when my client is connected via wireless and I try to connect via telnet with another client it connects correctly, but if I leave the telnet session unused for a while (more or less an hour) when I try to use it again it says me connection error connection abort, and I have to reset my client.

The strange thing is that in the same time other programs that are running between the two hosts don't have the same beahviour. they didn't freeze nor went in timeout. It seems than that the wireless connection doesn't go timeout.

The problems seems to be limited only to telnet protocol, we try using more telnet client:
putty and client wavelink. the beahviour is the same. we tried perform the test both from a laptop and from a tablet, the problem persists.

If I connect the same laptop via cable, the telnet session doesn't go in timeout.

It is very strange. Did anyone face the same issue? Has anyone any idea on what could cause the problem and how to fix it?

My controller is a Aruba 3400 with software versione 6.4.2.9.

My APs are 105 or 104.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards,

Re: Problem with telnet session timeout on IAP 105

Does the device you are connecting to have a telnet timeout?

Hi thanks for your reply.

No the device hasn't a forced telnet timeout: with a cable connection the session doesn't have any trouble.

[ Edited ]

You mention in the title it is an IAP, but you also say that you have a controller?  Whch one is it?

Also, what ACLs do you have in the user role?

There are numerous variables that come with wireless and you have to troubleshoot some connectivity yourself in general, otherwise it will take days to get to the bottom of it.

Do any other applications have this issue?

Re: Problem with telnet session timeout on IAP 105

The controller is an Aruba 3400 with software versione 6.4.2.9.

In the menu Security > Access Control >  User Roles i found the attached list of ACLs.

Other applications doesn't experience this issue.

Which role is your user in?  What ACLs are in that role?  Type "show rights <role>"

Re: Problem with telnet session timeout on IAP 105?

You should:

(1) Stand up an external syslog server

(2) Go to System> Advanced> Monitoring and Turn on user debugging and point it to that external syslog server, so you can possibly see anything that is happening with that client:
