RSS Feed - Aruba Support Site

This isn't my idea but i heard it yesterday for folks constently checking the AOS download folder for updates.  Either update the parent folder date to reflect the latest change made or create an RSS feed/twitter handle for annoucing recently updated AOS versions.

Aruba Instant SSID time range restriction

Status: New
by mmourand ‎02-07-2014 07:00 AM

Hi all,

Having a option on each SSIDs to be able to stop broadcasting on a certain time range and then start back at another time would be a good thing.

I know the controller does this with ACL but there is no such thing with the IAP

MAS Competitive Sheet

MAS Vs Cisco Vs HP?

It is coming anytime soon?

It would be nice that you could read on the documentation something like

the NT-3x3-D100 has a estimated coverage of 100m, 200m or something that can give you an idea how far it can reach...

We all dont have outdoor aps to test  but it would be a really good idea having an idea(it does not need to be exact as it depends on many things) but you can have an idea which is good.

Hi Guys,

AirWave is such a great tool.

I think u should add to it a good full LAN (auto/custom)  topology map,it's a feature that some of our clients would like to see.

Here is an example:

Video Cours

I think that Aruba documentation is great, especialy the VRD's

but  i hope that Aruba will upload Video How two begining by the basic thinks and ending by complexe and difficult config

It would be nice if Aruba could put the hardware information of their APs on the datasheets.

It would be really helpful because for example, there is an AP of Cisco which is dual band dual radio which is cheaper than Aruba 105.  Now you wonder why? and its because Aruba Hardware is just better! it has more RAM, better CPU.  This would let him handle more clients in a better way.

Now the end client doesnt see this... he just see that Cisco AP is a dual band dual radio AP and the AP 105 is a dual band dual radio AP and cisco one is cheaper!

This way i can have something in hand to tell the end user that the reason of that is because the hardware is better!.

Cheers

Controller / AP bulk processing

Some things that I would like to have, to imporve our method of installing high quantity APs into new or existing systems.

  • A database feature on the controller, where I could for example, upload an Excel document with serial numbers/Mac addresses, BLE Macs and the controller stores that information so when I connect the new APs, it automatically assigns names and groups per the excell sheet.
  • BLE barcodes on the outside of 300 series AP boxes, for faster inventory
  • Some way to recover the BLE mac through CLI or through Web GUI of the controller, in case we miss one or don't have an AP documented.

Add supported hardware in the release notes

We work with other vendors. In their release notes they have listed what supported hardware. So you don't install it and then come to find out that some of your hardware is supported and some are not.

I managed to totally fail and had to contact TAC when adding routing on a map in Meridian due to the limitation that new ways in your route have to start from a crossing-dot.

If you add a long route through a hallway and then try to add detours from that line you will instead create a lot of multiple routes on top of each other without having them connected to the main line.

The way to properly add a detour from a straight line is to delete the line in full, ten add it again but klick and make it into two or more lines instead of one, and then you can start your detour from the now connected dot.

The user guide did not mention how you should start your routing, and at least I fail to see why you are allowed to create multiple non connected routes on the same map. Having a limitation, or a pop-up or anything to acknowledge the creation of a new routing layer (not connected to the existing one) would help out a lot.

iAP OpenVPN and L2tp/ipsec

Here is a quick overlook of the 2 types of VPN : https://www.ivpn.net/knowledgebase/62/PPTP-vs-L2TP-vs-OpenVPN.html

We would need this type of support in order to obtain the following functionalities:
- Monitoring the device (with Airwave or other open source aplication).
- Upload syslogs to a central server.
- Provide split tunnel traffic (We are doing content filtering given the role of the user for example).
- Provide Management access only through the VPN tunnel.
- Have a VC for multiple locations ( Multiple locations in one city that have the same config would have one VC)

Wouldn't it be better to add the list of supported and recommended IOS to ClearPass with Cisco and other switches to avoid testing time with diferent IOS.

Also wouldn't be better to divide the CPPM guide into two parts i.e.beginners and advanced so that beginners after going through and practising the basic concept could get useful information from advanced guide which should be written in the way how CPPM policies function which comes from where etc. Thanks.
