Able to print on wired, unable to print on wireless...

Hi all,

If a client is able to print on wired, unable to print on wireless...
What would be the things to check to find the root cause of the problem?
The ipconfig /all is the same on wired and wireless, other than the IP Address...

Thanks.

Re: Able to print on wired, unable to print on wireless...

If a client finds a printer via bonjour on wired and your are dropping broadcasts in the Virtual AP profile, he will no longer be able to find that printer...

Yup.
It's the Broadcast setting in AP System profile.
issue resolved.

I'm having similar problems, but I can't find any broadcast setting in Configuration->AP Configuration->->AP System profile!? Am I looking in the wrong place?

You need to go to:

Configuration->AP Configuration->[Edit your AP-Group}. Expand Virtual AP and find your Virtual AP profile. It should be under "Broadcast Filter" in the Virtual AP.

You mean the "Drop broadcast and multicast" checkbox?

Correct. I typed the commandline equivalent, sorry.

Yeah works fine if you have Bonjour / Pidgin connection problems ;-) i had the VAP settings "drop broadcast / multicast" active , after disabling the checkbox then pidgin was working fine inside the Wifi

thanks to mr. 24/7/365 cjoseph aka. helpdesk ;-)

Re: Able to print on wired, unable to print on wireless...

Funny issue now : after unsetting the option "drop broadcast / multicast" e.g. thats the default setting after initial controller setup i experience that SAMBA access from windows7 clients to server shares arent properly working.

after again setting the option everything is working fine, but pidgin not cause bonjour now again gets "dropped"..

anyone experienced too ? cant be , we have "authenticated any-any" in some plain corporate SSID without any restrictions for this VAP, so no specials or whatever...

Re: Able to print on wired, unable to print on wireless...

Is the problem that "Browsing" Samba shares does not work, or accessing Samba shares by name does not work? Browsing and populating existing Samba shares is done via a local broadcast, so turning on "Drop Broadcasts" will break this....
