Aruba S3500 switch - Do Configuration on Aruba Controller

Hi,

Who have user guide do the configuration on Aruba Controller then push the config to Aruba S3500 switches?

Because i need to know how Aruba Controller manage the Aruba Switch for example, assign the VLAN based on user role instead of using the switch port assign the VLAN.

Thanks & Regards,
Tin

Re: Aruba S3500 switch - Do Configuration on Aruba Controller

The Aruba controller cannot push configuration to the S3500 switch, yet.

You need an Aruba Controller on Version 6.1.x.x
You need an S3500 Switch on Version 7.xx

Download the 3500 user guide here: http://support.arubanetworks.com/DOCUMENTATION/tabid/77/DMXModule/512/Command/Core_Download/Default.aspx?EntryId=5910

Go to chapter 8 in that document called "Tunneled Node". That chapter describes how to configure what you want.

Re: Aruba S3500 switch - Do Configuration on Aruba Controller

At the moment what Aruba controller can do with the Aruba switch? Beside Tunnel mode.

How about the based on user role assign VLAN? Because traditional way like Cisco is based on switch port.

Re: Aruba S3500 switch - Do Configuration on Aruba Controller

Hi all
I checked "Tunneled Node" in chapter 8 and i did the configuration in the switch. But the tunnel is down.
Below is what i did

Controller

interface vlan 1000
ip address 192.168.170.1 255.255.255.0
operstate up

ip dhcp pool VL1000-controller_tunnel
default-router 192.168.170.1
network 192.168.170.0 255.255.255.0
authoritative

====
switch S3500

vlan "1000"
description "controller_tunnel"

interface-profile switching-profile "controller_tunnel"
access-vlan 1000

interface-profile tunneled-node-profile "controller_tunnel"
controller-ip 192.168.170.1

interface-group gigabitethernet "controller_tunnel"
apply-to 0/0/1-0/0/4
tunneled-node-profile "controller_tunnel"
switching-profile "controller_tunnel"

can you provide me a working configuration.
if you can post a good documentation it will be fantastic

Re: Aruba S3500 switch - Do Configuration on Aruba Controller

A few questions:

Can the switch ping the controller?

On the 3500, please execute the following:

show tunneled-node state
show tunneled-node config
show vlan

On the Aruba Controller, please execute the following:

show tunneled-node state
show vlan

Re: Aruba S3500 switch - Do Configuration on Aruba Controller

Just saw this in the release notes:

"ArubaOS 6.1.2.1 does not support tunneled-node with the S3500.
Workaround: Best practices recommend that you do not upgrade to this release if your topology includes a S3500. ArubaOS 6.1.1.x supports tunneled-node with the S3500."

Please use an earlier revision of ArubaOS if you are running 6.1.2.1 for tunneled node to work.

Re: Aruba S3500 switch - Do Configuration on Aruba Controller

If I already upgrade the firmware from 6.0.1.1 to 6.1.2.1 still able to downgrade it 6.1.1.0?

Because currently Partition 0 is default boot and running 6.1.2.1 and Partition 1 is installed 6.0.1.1.

Please advise.
