Hi,

Anyone know what's the reason that in the flash memory there are the files generated:

default.cfg.2011-09-05_09-57-25
filter.1.pcap
filter.pcap

These files I have had always erased from de flash memory and there're generated again

Re: Files Filter.1.cap in my controller

The filter.pcap files are used to capture back end packets in and out of the controller. These are usually used to troubleshoot things like radius via the commands like packet capture udp 1812 1816. Those packets are stored in the controller as the filter.pcap files ypu see and can be retrieved by the tar.logs command then open them with proconvert and wireshark.

Re: Files Filter.1.cap in my controller

Use "show packet-capture" to see what you have enabled:

(3600) #show packet-capture

Current Active Packet Capture Actions(current switch)
=====================================================
Packet filtering for TCP ports disabled.
Packet filtering UDP with 1 port(s) enabled:
1645
Packet filtering for internal messaging opcodes disabled.
Packet filtering for all other packets disabled.

Packet Capture Defaults(across switches and reboots if saved)
============================================================
Packet filtering for TCP ports disabled.
Packet filtering for UDP ports disabled.
Packet filtering for internal messaging opcodes disabled.
Packet filtering for all other pa(McGraw-Hill) #show packet-capture

Current Active Packet Capture Actions(current switch)
=====================================================

============================================================
Packet filtering for TCP ports disabled.
Packet filtering for UDP ports disabled.
Packet filtering for internal messaging opcodes disabled.
Packet filtering for all other packets disabled.

You can see udp 1645 enabled in the example above. To turn it off:

(3600) #packet-capture udp disable
(3600) #show packet-capture

Current Active Packet Capture Actions(current switch)
=====================================================
Packet filtering for TCP ports disabled.
Packet filtering for UDP ports disabled.
Packet filtering for internal messaging opcodes disabled.
Packet filtering for all other packets disabled.

Packet Capture Defaults(across switches and reboots if saved)
============================================================
Packet filtering for TCP ports disabled.
Packet filtering for UDP ports disabled.
Packet filtering for internal messaging opcodes disabled.
Packet filtering for all other packets disabled.

Please see the document here: http://airheads.arubanetworks.com/vBulletin/attachment.php?attachmentid=192&d=1277808139 on how to do packet captures with the Aruba Controller. The thread here: http://airheads.arubanetworks.com/vBulletin/showthread.php?t=812 has interesting info about Wireshark Capturing.
