If controller act as L2 is it need an ip interface client vlan

Hi all,

If controller act as L2 is it need an ip address on client vlan? because I tried without no ip address on vlan but client can't get the ip address. but If I have an IP address on vlan client can get the ip address properly.

please advice,

It all depends on What is supplying DHCP to the client. If the DHCP server is on the same VLAN as the client, the controller does not need an ip address. If the DHCP server is NOT on the same VLAN, either the default gateway needs an ip address and a helper address, or the controller needs an ip address and a helper address pointing to the DHCP server.

aakmit,

I saw your post about controller is a Layer 2 design. Is the controller for supporting campus or remote AP?
