L2 GRE Heartbeats

The release notes for 6.1.2.1 say that heartbeats are now supported on L2 GRE tunnels, but when I try to configure them, AOS rejects the configuration.

(QDC-RAP-C01) (config-tunnel)#tunnel keepalive 10 5
Error: Keepalive is not supported for L2 tunnels

Re: L2 GRE Heartbeats

Checking to make sure the command was put in there. What build/version is this?

Re: L2 GRE Heartbeats

This was tested on 6.1.2.1_29129 for the M3/3000s.

Re: L2 GRE Heartbeats

I have the same version and it is working for me. Please send the output of "show interface tunnel " and "show version"

Re: L2 GRE Heartbeats

Perhaps it's specific to the 6000 M3.

Re: L2 GRE Heartbeats

More info. If you just create a new tunnel, like you did Colin, you can put the keepalives in - BUT you just created an L3 tunnel, Colin. Look at your output of the show tunnel, it says its an IP GRE tunnel, not L2. So, it did not work for you.

(QDC-RAP-C01) (config) #no interface tunnel 2
(QDC-RAP-C01) (config) #interface tunnel 2
(QDC-RAP-C01) (config-tunnel)# tunnel source
(QDC-RAP-C01) (config-tunnel)# tunnel destination
(QDC-RAP-C01) (config-tunnel)# trusted
(QDC-RAP-C01) (config-tunnel)#tunnel keepalive 30 5
(QDC-RAP-C01) (config-tunnel)#tunnel vlan 4002
Error: Keepalive is enabled, disable keepalive before adding this

Re: L2 GRE Heartbeats

I have a case open, we'll see what TAC has to say. I have a feeling someone jumped the gun in the release notes.
