PPTP VPN passthrough to Server 2003

I've just replaced an old ZyWall with an Aruba 650 and now PPTP vpns won't connect through to the RRAS server. It works fine if I set the Aruba up to answer the VPN but that isn't what we want.

The configuration on the server hasn't been touched and was working fine before the Aruba went in. Can't use L2TP.

What do I need to do for this to work?

any any svc-pptp dst-nat ip 192.168.1.1
any any svc-gre dst-nat ip 192.168.1.1

Any help will be much appreciated.

Re: PPTP VPN passthrough to Server 2003

The question is, where do you have these ACLs applied?

Re: PPTP VPN passthrough to Server 2003

These are on the WAN port, the same way my port forwarding for SMTP, OWA and web traffic are setup and they all work perfectly.

At the moment lan to wan is quite open, with port 25 blocked but everything else permitted, so I don't think return traffic is the problem.

Re: PPTP VPN passthrough to Server 2003

Can anyone help with this?

I'm getting the error message "A connection between the VPN server and the VPN client {clients public IP} has been established, but the VPN connection cannot be completed. The most common cause for this is that a firewall or router between the VPN server and the VPN client is not configured to allow Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) packets (protocol 47). Verify that the firewalls and routers between your VPN server and the Internet allow GRE packets. Make sure the firewalls and routers on the user's network are also configured to allow GRE packets. If the problem persists, have the user contact the Internet service provider (ISP) to determine whether the ISP might be blocking GRE packets."

I can VPN to other sites from our office and the VPN used to work before putting the Aruba in so it's not the ISP.

Please open a case so that TAC can get into the specifics of your configuration. It could be a configuration that was never attempted in testing. Please open a case so that they can confirm.
