Secondary IP interface on the router

We are looking at adding a secondary IP address on the interface of the router.
This would enable us to use one vlan ID so we could put users into a vlan
via authentications method and still keep the subnets to something small like a /24
I was wondering is anybody doing/tried this? If you are doing it how straight forward was it? If you tried it and failed what went wrong?

Re: Secondary IP interface on the router

Is there a reason you want to do this as opposed to using something like VLAN pools? Placing multiple /24s on a single VLAN doesn't do anything about limiting broadcasts and the other problems associated with large VLANs.

Until Aruba come out with vlan pooling via Authentication Role this was another option we could do. But I do see your point about the broadcast.
