Upgrade 3200 and upgrade/maintenance costs for ArubaOS

Hi,

my 3400 controller is running OS 3.4 and I would like to upgrade to 6.1, is there any limit on what OS can be applied to my controller.

Additionally the vendors says that I need to pay an annual fee to be able to apply OS updates to my controller, I haven't been able to find any documentation about this, but I have limited knowledge of Aruba. Please advise if this is true and if so how are the costs calculated?

Thanks,

Upgrade 3200 and upgrade/maintenance costs for ArubaOS

Hi Charles,

You are correct, there is an annual fee, called ArubaCare, which is required for any software updates to your platform. This is part of the End User License Agreement (EULA) and is based upon the serial number of the controller. The costs are based upon the list price of the controller and all licenses purchased from Aruba.

As for the upgrade, just follow the directions in the release notes, which state that from 3.4, you migrate to 6.0.x and then up to 6.1.x code as an upgrade procedure.

Sorry to bump an older post....

Is that to say that the fee for the controller only pertains to the ability to upgrade the AOS? It does not cover any hardware issues?

Our reseller did not quote us an annual fee for any of our controllers, only for the AP LIC and PEF.

Thank you. I think we managed to get it squared away by engaging our SE directly. I guess many times the resellers don't have a full understanding of the products they sell.

The quote seemed much cheaper than expected, and I was curious as to why the controllers weren't included. Of course management was very happy about the lower price!
