how to see switch device-type on CLI

hi folks,

what interessts me for a long time now - is it possible to query the exact switch model on the CLI, for example Aruba 2930M 24G Switch = JL319A (= which can be seen for sure via "show running in the first line")?!

Hey,

Try "show tech buffers".

Re: how to see switch device-type on CLI

Greetings!

A better, saner option would be this command (with example output):

switch# show dhcp client vendor-specific

Vendor Class Id = Aruba JL258A 2930F-8G-PoE+-2SFP+ Switch
Processing of Vendor Specific Configuration is enabled

It's a bit non-obvious, but this should get you the info you need.

Hello,

In Addition to the above commands you can get the required information with command "show modules", This will work on all the moduler switches.

The output will be like below:

SW2# show modules

Status and Counters - Module Information

Chassis: 2930M-24G  JL319A         Serial Number:   XXXXXXXXXX

Slot  Module Description                         Serial Number    Status
  ----- ------------------------------------------ ---------------- ----------

SW2#
