just wired - S3500 and Controller ?

Dear all:

We are working on the development of a "media center" where most of the equipment will be transferring in and out video content (ingest, transcoding and so on).

We were thinking about using Aruba tech on the security.

Is a stack of 3500 switches enough to handle firewalling and so on ?

We currently have customers using 3500 switches and 3200 controllers, but we don't know about the capacity of just the 3500 to perform all tasks.

In this case we think we can alsso use RAP to management and maintainance operations and if possible clearpass for all future users. Most users will be connected thru DSL and the equipment (blades, storage, video) pluged to the 3500.

Any comment will be welcome.

Thanks

Regards,

Nelson

If you are doing heavy media transfer between devices local to the stack, you don't want to tunnel your traffic through a controller. Through a mix of stateless and stateful ACLs, you should be able to use a standalone stack.

in such a case, what kind of licensing applies ?

the stack will also provide remote access to the network thru some RAPs
