    Hi

I am working on a POC where customer has a requirement that a user must stay on redirected website after captive portal authentication for a atleast 5 minutes.

Currently we are proposing  our customer Aruba Central Subscription to manage Instant Access Points.

Is this possible on Aruba Central or we need to integrate ClearPass with it.

    Thank you

How will the AP know that the user has been at the redirected website for at least 5 minutes? If the user closes their web browser, does that still count towards the 5 minute timer?

    Hi cclemmer,

    Thank ou for your reply.

Regarding your first question i am not sure if  you mean that it is not possible or something else.

About second question, customer has developed a page that includes a survey and advertisements. After completion of survey customer will redirect to their website then user should stay on their website for at least 5 mins(to explore thier website).

Now customer wants that a user should complete this procedure before they have access to all other websites on the internet.

There is no mechanism for the network infrastructure to force a user to go to a website for five minutes. That is probably best done by the captive portal prior to authentication.

As I've seen it implemented previously, the captive portal will serve up the advertisements and videos, ensuring that the needed requirements are met. Once met, the captive portal will trigger the authentication to the network infrastructure to allow the client to browse as they wish.

    Thanks  cclemmer.

In short it means that this requirement cannot be fulfilled?

Or is there any possible way around like we can manipulate pre/post authentiation roles.

There would need to be an external trigger to move the user from the role that restricts access to the website, to a role that permits traffic to other destinations. Once the user is authenticated and put in a role that allows other destinations, there is no mechanism for forcing them to stay on the landing page for a defined amount of time.
