Note: AOS 3.x and above
Ever want to just quickly rename an AP? Thinking about why it takes so long to walk through the GUI to get to the reprovisioning screen?
Well, this week's command is a simple, but useful one- "ap-rename". This lets you quickly and simply change the name of a single AP. You can specificy the AP based on existing ap-name, serial number or wired mac address and then give it it's new name:
(Greig) #ap-rename ? ap-name Rename AP with this name serial-num Rename AP with this serial number wired-mac Rename AP at this MAC address (Greig) #ap-rename ap-name ? Rename AP with this name (Greig) #ap-rename ap-name test ? AP's new name (Greig) #ap-rename ap-name test alien-defense-plan ?
And your bonus command this week is "ap-regroup". No, this is not what happens when your APs have been attacked by aliens and need to come back together to make a new plan of attack, it lets you simply change the group that an AP belongs to:
(Greig) #ap-regroup ? ap-name Regroup AP with this name serial-num Regroup AP with this serial number wired-mac Regroup AP at this MAC address (Greig) #ap-regroup ap-name ? Regroup AP with this name (Greig) #ap-regroup ap-name alien-defense-plan ? Name of AP's new group (Greig) #ap-regroup ap-name test alien-attack-plan ?
