COTD: Use ftp to upgrade a controller whenever you can

Use ftp, whenever you can to upgrade your controller's firmware. TFTP is the slowest transfer method, and is not very resilient. Use the "Web Upload" method is faster than TFTP, but should be used when your controller is behind a boundary where ftp cannot be done. FTP, even over slow links provides the best performance and feedback for a transfer.

Windows XP users can use the free TFTP server here: http://support.3com.com/software/3cdv2r10.zip MAC users can use the built-in ftp server via file sharing to do this. The "copy ftp" command will even do directories if you put the folder in front of the filename

(ArubaM3) #copy ftp: 172.16.20.21 anonymous /uploads/A800_3.4.0.6_22577 system: partition 1
Password:***********
Copying file:........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
File copied successfully.
Saving file to flash:
....................................................................................................................................
The system will boot from partition 1 during the next reboot.
