Can ARM scanning be disabled for voice calls without a voice license?

Aruba Employee

Product and Software: This article applies to all Aruba controllers and ArubaOS versions before 3.4.1.0.

You can disable scanning for devices on voice calls in two ways:

  • voip-aware-scan: in the ARM profile when the voice license has been installed on a controller
  • disable-scanning: configured in a session ACL rule to disable scanning for the specified constraints in the rule, such as source, destination, and service.

Before ArubaOS 3.4.1.0, these methods require the voice license to operate. The voip-aware-scan option cannot be configured without the voice license.

The disable-scanning feature in an ACL can be configured without a voice license, but it does absolutely nothing to disable scanning unless the voice license is present. The other rules still operate as expected.

In ArubaOS 3.4.1.0, the voice module is included in the base ArubaOS, so the above options will be available and will work as expected.
