Can I have Airgroup enabled in Master controller and disabled in local controller ?

Aruba Employee

Question: Can I have Airgroup enabled in Master controller and disabled in local controller ?

Environment: This article applies to controller in master-local setup running ArubaOS version or later.

Requirements change from one customer to another and therefore network topologies also differ.

Most customer deployments would have Aruba 3000 , M3 or 7200 series controllers as Master and Aruba 600 Series controllers as Local Controllers. As Airgroup is not supported on 600 series controllers because of memory constraints, most customers carry a concern if Airgroup can be enabled in the mobility deployments that include 600 series controller acting as Local.

As Airgroup is controller specific configuration, it is possible to have Airgroup enabled on Master Controller and disabled on local controllers selectively.

AirGroup CPPM enforce registration, AirGroup CPPM query interval, AirGroup location discovery, and AirGroup Active Wireless Discovery parameters are available on the master controller only. The master controller pushes these configurations to all the applicable local controllers that have Airgroup enabled.

Status of Airgroup can be verified on each controller with the help of below command:

(Aruba)# Show Airgroup Status
