Issue
Debug to be enabled on controller in order to troubleshoot airgroup issues.
Environment
This articles applies to Aruba Mobility Controllers running ArubaOS 6.3.0.0 or higher
Network administrators are faced with a difficult choice between propagating mDNS traffic across VLANs – and risking a significant reduction in wireless performance – or blocking mDNS traffic to prevent connectivity for Bonjour-capable devices and services. Aruba AirGroup adds mDNS proxy capabilities to campus WLANs so that Bonjour messages can be forwarded across subnets or VLANs.
For troubleshooting AirGroup issues, debugging needs to be enabled for mDNS process under
System
,
Security
and
User
debug logs.
The log debug messages for the mDNS process are not enabled by default. To enable specific logging levels, use the following CLI commands in configuration mode:
To enable high level mDNS debug messages:
(host)(config) #logging level debugging system process mdns
To enable mDNS packet processing messages:
(host)(config) #logging level debugging system process mdns subcat messages
To enable mDNS CLI configuration messages:
(host)(config) #logging level debugging system process mdns subcat configuration
To enable mDNS Auth and CPPM user messages:
(host)(config) #logging level debugging user process mdns
To enable mDNS security debugging:
(host)(config) #logging level debugging security process mdns
Following image shows logging enable from command line:
Display AirGroup logs by issuing the following commands in the controller CLI:
show log all
show log system all
show log user all
show log user-debug all
Note:
For the above show commands you can include the filter as "mdns"
(show log system all | include mdns)
