Question: Explanation about "show switches summary" command and it's configurations?
Product and Software: This article applies to all Product and Software.
This command shows the configuration details between Master and Local controllers.
- We can see total number of local switches which were registered with Master controller
- We can see total number of local switches which are UP.
- We can see total number of local switches which are Down
NOTE: UP and Down = Total number of Local Switches
- How many controllers are at UPDATE REQUIRED state
- How many controllers are at UPDATE_INPROGRESS state
- How many controllers are at UPDATE_COMPLETE state
- How many controllers are at UPDATE_INCOMPLETE state
- How many controllers are at UPDATE_UNKNOWN state
- Maximum/Minimum Configuration Update Time, which it took to sync the config with Locals
- Maximum Outstanding Update Counter is configurable parameter (default 5) and configurable value will open that many numbers of sockets and sends configuration to that many local controllers simultaneously.
Below we can see the how to configure the parameter and show command with change.
- Follow to above "Current Outstanding Update Time" this will show how many local controller are pending for update.
- "Heartbeat timer value" is number of seconds Master and local will exchange heartbeats.

"SnapSot Timer Value" is a configurable parameter however this is for the local controllers but if we configure the parameter on Master, we will see warning message.

- For "sync-type" we have two options
- Complete: This will share the full configuration always with the local controller.
- SnapShot: This will only send snapshot of the configuration instead full configuration.
- Under "show switches summary" end we see "Configuration chunk size <value>" (1-100) and 1 = 1024 and 100 = 102400 KBytes.
