Question:  How do I configure traffic forwarding on the access point?

Product and Software: This article applies to all Aruba controllers and ArubaOS 3.3.x.

The traffic forwarding on the access point (AP) is configure into these queues: Voice, Video, Background, and Best Effort.

By default, all traffic will be in the Best Effort queue.

To configure the traffic, the type of service (TOS) byte needs to be tagged by the external network devices or by the Aruba mobility controller.

To configure the traffic into the:

  • Voice queue, the TOS byte should be set to one of these values: 0x30, 0xE0, 0X88, or 0xB8.
  • Video queue, the TOS byte should be set to one of these values: 0x28 or 0xA0.
  • Background queue, the TOS byte should be set to one of these values: 0x08 or 0x20.
  • Best effort queue, the TOS byte is 0x0, which is the default.
