Question:  How do I delete a local controller, which is not is use or has a different IP address, from the master controller?

Product and Software: This article applies to Aruba 5000 and 6000 Series controllers and ArubaOS 3.4.x.

You may have a local controller that is not in production and shows the status as "down" in the show switches command on the master controller.

(Aruba-Master) # show switches

All Switches

------------

IP Address Name Location Type Version Status Configuration State Config Sync Time (sec)

---------- ---- -------- ---- ------- ------ ------------------- ----------------------

192.168.1.2 MASTER Main-Building master 3.4.0.4 up UPDATE SUCCESSFUL 0

192.168.1.3 A-Local Building1.floor1 local 3.4.0.4 up UPDATE SUCCESSFUL 0

192.168.200.21 B-Local Building1.floor1 local 3.4.0.4 down UPDATE REQUIRED 0

To manually remove this local controller, issue the following command:

(Aruba-Master) # clear master-local-entry a.b.c.d

where a.b.c.d represents the IP address of the local controller.

This CLI command purges the entry for the local controller from the Master Active list.

However, the Aruba master controller is designed to remove the entry of the local controller from the master in 12 hours, if that local controller cannot establish the master-local IPsec tunnel and register via PAPI. The master controller handles local controllers that are down in this way.
