How do I determine the provisioning image version on a RAP-2WG?

Jul 01, 2014 04:45 PM

Product and Software: This article applies to all Aruba platforms that run the RN code and ArubaOS 3.3.2.11-rn-3.0 and later.

To determine the factory default provisioning image of the RAP-2WG, the RAP2 has to be up and running and connected to a controller that is running the RN code.

After the RAP2 is connected, two additional configuration changes are required:

  • Enable Telnet in the AP system profile that the RAP belongs to.

  • Add a rule to the ap-role to permit Telnet from the intranet network.

These two requirements will allow access to the RAP2 using Telnet. If the RAP inner IP is routable, such access could be done from the intranet network. Otherwise, the Telnet access to the RAP2 has to happen from the controller shell.

After a Telnet connection is made to the RAP2, switch to full access by pressing "ESC+Ctrl+k", and issue this command:

dd if=/dev/mtd0 bs=64k count=1 skip=63 2>/dev/null | grep 'ArubaOS'

Example

~ #
~ # Switching to Full Access
~ #
~ # dd if=/dev/mtd0 bs=64k count=1 skip=63 2>/dev/null | grep 'ArubaOS'
