How do I know if an AP is in protection mode?

Product and Software: This article applies to ArubaOS 3.x.

Protection happens in the 2.4 Ghz band when an 11g capable AP is hearing a 802.11b client on the same channel. At this point, all 11g stations use a CTS/RTS and maximum TCP throughput for the 802.11g clients should decrease per specifications. 802.11b client throughput is unaffected.

You can check this by issuing the following command:

ArubaOS 3.x:

#show ap debug radio-stats ap-name 33.99.102 radio 0 | include Protection 11g Protection 0
