Question:  How do I log the email address of clients if I implement Aruba wireless in a hotspot?

Product and Software: This article applies to all Aruba controllers and ArubaOS versions.

In some countries, those who provide hotspot services must keep track of some information for a certain amount of time. While the type of information that is required may vary, in most cases it can be summarized to:

  • User that access the resource
  • IP of the resource
  • Date

To log this information using Aruba and the syslog server, issue the following command:

(Aruba) (config) #logging level notifications user

Output is:

Dec 22 03:37:03 :522008: <NOTI> |authmgr| User authenticated: Name=srinivasa@arubanetworks.com MAC=00:16:ea:f1:16:4c IP=10.1.1.254 method=Web server=n/a role=guest
