How do I run an RF test with the built-in Aruba RFT utility?

Product and Software: This article applies to ArubaOS 3.x and later.

 

Aruba has a built-in RF testing tool with basic functionalities. The following tests are available.

 

Antenna Connectivity

This command checks AP antenna connectivity. The Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) of all the antennae on the AP is tested.
#rft test profile antenna-connectivity ap-name <Name of the AP> dest-mac <mac address of client> phy <a or g> | radio <0 or 1>

Link Quality
This command determines the most suitable data rate for a given target. It checks the success rate in all the data rates possible by the AP.

#rft test profile link-quality ap-name <Name of the AP> dest-mac <mac address of client> phy <a or g> | radio <0 or 1>

Raw
This command sends a null data to the wireless client and tests the success rate. It can be considered as an 802.11 ping.

#rft test profile raw ap-name <Name of the AP> dest-mac <mac address of client> phy <a or g> | radio <0 or 1>
