Controller Based WLANs

How do I search in the show command output for a keyword that has a space in it?

Product and Software: This article applies to all Aruba controllers and ArubaOS versions.

Explanation:

The pipe symbol (|) is used with all forms of the show command to get a particular output. The normal syntax for using the | symbol is:

#show running-config | include <keyword>

If the keyword is more than one word, then we must put the keywords within the double quotes:

#show running-config | include "AAA BBB CCC"

#show running-config | begin "AAA BBB CCC"

#show running-config | exclude "AAA BBB CCC"

Example

(Dot35Controller) #show version | include "Reboot Cause"

Reboot Cause: User reboot.

(Dot35Controller) #show version | begin "Reboot Cause"

Reboot Cause: User reboot.

If you want to search for either one term or another, then commas work like "|" does in a standard regexp,

so: show log system 100 | include FA:CE,fa:ce will match all lines that contain either FA:CE or fa:ce

If you have spaces in one of the terms you are trying to search and use the comma on, leave the quotes

around the whole string, example:

show log system 100 | include "10.10.10.10 sapd,10.10.10.10 nanny"

Then wonder whether there are any other hidden goodies in the regexp syntax, and how to match ap-name "foo" when it has quotes on it.
