How do I use the internal user database of the local controller?

Question:  How do I use the internal user database of the local controller?

Product and Software: This article applies to all Aruba controllers and ArubaOS versions.

In a master/local setup, the internal database is specific to the controller and it is not synchronized.

The server group might be mapped to the internal database in the local controller for authentication. By default, users try to get authenticated using the internal database of the master controller and they get an error message that authentication failed.

Avoid this issue by taking the following steps on either the CLI or webUI on the local controller.

On the CLI of the Local Controller:

(Aruba)(config) # aaa authentication-server internal use-local-switch

On the WebGUI of Local Controller:

1) Navigate to Configuration > Security > Authentication > Server.

2) Click Internal database.

3) Check the checkbox at Use local switch's Internal user database.

4) Click Apply and save the configuration.
