Q:

How does the cluster leader elected in Clustering?

A:

The cluster leader is elected once the controllers become part of a cluster.

The controllers in the cluster uses three fields (Priority, Platform value and Hardware MAC address) to elect the cluster leader.

Field Description
Priority Each controller which is a part of a cluster will have Priority value and the default value is 128. The controller which has a highest priority will be elected as Cluster leader.
Platform value The platform value is based on the hardware model. A7240 will have highest platform value compared to A7220 . A7220 will have highest platform value compared to A70xx controller. If the priority value is same on all the controller in cluster, the controller which has the highest platform value will be elected as Cluster leader.
Hardware MAC address If the priority is set to default value and all the controllers in the cluster is same model (or having same platform value) the controller which has highest MAC address will be elected as Cluster leader.
