Controller Based WLANs

How to enable automatically send email to guest and sponsor when the guest user is created?
Requirement:

Need to trigger emails automatically to guest and sponsor, when the guest user account is created in the local-user database.

Solution:

This can be done by enabling the below option from the controller either from the CLI or from the WEBUI.

Configuration:

Make sure we have the SMTP server configured on the controller for the emails to work.

SMTP configuration can be verified from the below command:

(Aruba) (config) #show guest-access-email

Guest-access Email Profile
--------------------------
Parameter    Value
---------    -----
SMTP Server  172.16.0.234
SMTP Port    25

Before enabling the option:

(Aruba) (config) #show running-config | include local-
Building Configuration...

Commands to enable the automatic email trigger:

(Aruba) (config) #
(Aruba) (config) #local-userdb send-to-?

send-to-guest           Automatically send email to guest when guest user is created
send-to-sponsor      Automatically send email to guest sponsor when guest user is created
<cr>

(Aruba) (config) #local-userdb send-to-guest
(Aruba) (config) #local-userdb send-to-sponsor

After enabling the option:

(Aruba) (config) #show running-config | include local-
Building Configuration...

local-userdb send-to-guest
local-userdb send-to-sponsor

We can enable this option from the WEBUI as well from the below screen:

Configuration>MANAGEMENT>Guest Provisioning> From the "Email" tab:

Check the option "Send automatically at account creation time" under both Guest Message and Sponsor Message.

Verification

Emails sent and dropped can be verified from the below counters:

(Aruba) (config) #show util_proc guest-email counters

Guest Email Counters
--------------------
Name            Value
----                   -----
Email Received  0
Email Sent          2
Email Dropped  0
