How to exclude ip addresses from the dhcp configuration on the Aruba controller?

Introduction : This article explains how to exclude a group of IP addressed from the dhcp configuration on the Aruba controller.

 

Environment : This article applies to all the versions of Aruba OS and all the controllers.

 

Configuration Steps :

 

Below is the procedure to exclude ip addresses from the dhcp configuration on the controller:
 
(Aruba) #show ip dhcp database                                                                        //Before excluding the IP addresses
 
DHCP enabled
 
# Vlan1
subnet 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 {
        option domain-name "arubanetworks.com";
        option vendor-class-identifier  "ArubaAP";
        option vendor-encapsulated-options  "192.168.1.1";
        option domain-name-servers 4.2.2.2;
        option routers 192.168.1.1;
        range 192.168.1.2 192.168.1.254;
        authoritative;
}
 
(Aruba) #configure t
Enter Configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z
(Aruba) (config) #ip dhcp excluded-address 192.168.1.10 192.168.1.20    //command to exclude IP addresses (Here we are excluding a range of IP addresses from 192.168.1.10 to 192.168.1.20)
(Aruba) (config) #
(Aruba) (config) #
(Aruba) (config) #show ip dhcp database                                                           //after excluding the IP addresses
 
DHCP enabled

ip dhcp excluded-address 192.168.1.10 192.168.1.20

This can be done from the controller's WEBUI as well and below are the steps:


Click on “Configuration”, under “NETWORK” , click on “IP”, on the “DHCP Server” tab, click on “Add” under Excluded Address Range and specify the range which needs to be excluded:
