Controller Based WLANs

Is accounting information sent for the clients connecting to PSK (Pre-Shared key) SSID?

Environment : This article applies to all Aruba Controller and IAP deployments.

Yes, accounting information is sent only when the client authentication occurs against the AAA server.  For WPA2-PSK clients no accounting information is sent unless you have a mac authentication profile attached to your AAA profile that would point to a radius server.

Therefore, if you are not doing mac authentication then you cannot send radius accounting information for client connecting to WPA2-PSK SSID.

(Remote Authentication Dial in User Service (RADIUS) is a networking protocol that provides centralized Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA) management for computers to connect and use a network service. RADIUS is a client/server protocol that runs in the application layer, using UDP as transport. UDP 1812 for Authentication and UDP 1813 for Accounting.)
