Controller Based WLANs

Is client VLAN setting using RADIUS attribute supported for IPv6 subnets?

Product and Software: This article applies to ArubaOS 3.3.3.3 and later.

Client VLAN setting using RADIUS attribute should be supported for dot1x and mac-address authentication.

However, if you are relying on the stateless IPv6 prefix assignment using router advertisement AND multiple VLANs per VAP (be it VLAN pool or server derived), you should use the latest 3.3.3.3 and 3.4.2.x code stream. These codes try to perform RA-bcast-to-unicast conversion and allow the client to see RA only from its own VLAN.

Stateless IPv6 is anIPv6 address assignment approach that employs two IP addresses. One address is assigned permanently to the mobile device and the other is used to route data to the network to which the mobile device is connected at the time. This stateless approach is much like sending a datagram to a device in care of a network. Stateless IPv6 is useful in the context of mobile devices that move among pager, cellular, packet radio, wireless LAN (WLAN), and other wireless networks.
