Controller Based WLANs

My APs are crashing continuously. What driver log level should I set in AP system profile?

Aruba Employee
Q:

1. APs are constantly crashing. Should I increase driver log level for more verbose data collection?

2. Why should I set the driver log level to warning in AP system profile?

A:

In the codes 6.4.4.x we can set the AP driver log level. Default is "emergencies".

(master) (config) #ap system-profile test
(master) (AP system profile "test") #exit
(master) (config) #show ap system-profile test

AP system profile "test"
------------------------
Parameter Value
--------- -----
RF Band g
RF Band for AM mode scanning all
Native VLAN ID 1
Tunnel Heartbeat Interval 1
Session ACL ap-uplink-acl
Corporate DNS Domain N/A
SNMP sysContact N/A
LED operating mode (11n/11ac APs only) normal
LED override Disabled
Driver log level emergencies
SAP MTU N/A
RAP MTU 1200 bytes
LMS IP N/A
Backup LMS IP N/A
LMS IPv6 N/A

To get more verbose output, we can set it to "warnings".

(master) (config) #ap system-profile test
(master) (AP system profile "test") #driver-log-level warnings
(master) (AP system profile "test") #
(master) (AP system profile "test") #exit
(master) (config) #
(master) (config) #show ap system-profile test

AP system profile "test"
------------------------
Parameter Value
--------- -----
RF Band g
RF Band for AM mode scanning all
Native VLAN ID 1
Tunnel Heartbeat Interval 1
Session ACL ap-uplink-acl
Corporate DNS Domain N/A
SNMP sysContact N/A
LED operating mode (11n/11ac APs only) normal
LED override Disabled
Driver log level warnings
SAP MTU N/A
RAP MTU 1200 bytes

Now the AP crash information will include more verbose driver logs for debugging. Once this is configured, provide the AP tech support to Aruba TAC for analysis for any AP crash.
