Ping enhancement for IPv4 and IPv6 addresses
Requirement:

What are the latest enhancements to Ping feature and how to utilize them?



Solution:

Starting 6.5.1.0, Ping will be supporting new features in addition to the existing ones. This include interval, pattern, timeout, tos, ttl and validate-reply. This will be available both on web UI as well as CLI. All the enhanced options support both IPV4 and IPV6.

 

INTERVAL:

Specifies the time gap between two subsequent ping datagrams. This ranges from 1 to 60 (in sec).

 

PATTERN:

Specifies the hexadecimal data pattern to be filled in the datagram. User can set up to 16 hexadecimal digits.

 

TIMEOUT:

Specifies the amount of time to wait for receiving response packet. This ranges from        1 – 10 (in sec). Default Value is 2 Sec.

 

ToS:

Specifies the Type-Of-Service value to be set in IP Header. This ranges from 0 – 255. The default value is 0.

 

TTL:

Specifies the Time-To-Live value to be inserted in the Ping request. This ranges from 1 – 255. The default value is 255.

 

VALIDATE-REPLY:

Specifies whether or not to validate the reply data. The default value is ‘no’.

 



Configuration:

No additional configuration is required for these features to work. Any controller running 6.5.1.0 and higher images should support them.
