Controller Based WLANs

Under what conditions does an Aruba AP stop scanning?

Product and Software: This article applies to all Aruba controllers and ArubaOS 3.3.1.x and later.

When scanning is enabled in the ARM profile, an Aruba AP scans other channels in the regulatory domain once every 10 seconds (by default) for a period of 65-80 ms.

However, the AP stops scanning and the 'scan reject' counter increases under the following conditions:

·    Power Save Aware Scan (ps-aware-scan) is enabled and an associated client is in Power Save mode.

·    VOIP Aware Scan(voip-aware-scan) is enabled and an associated client has an active VoIP call. However, this option does require the Voice license.

·    The Load aware Scan Threshold (load-aware-scan-threshold) is reached.

·    The option disable-scanning is set in the user policy.

Note: The first three options are part of the ARM profile.
