Using FTP to upload software images to the controller ?

Jun 26, 2014 05:30 PM

This article applies to Aruba Mobility Controllers running ArubaOS version 6.3.0.0 and below.

Both the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) and the Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) are used to transfer files between systems. FTP is a widely used protocol that allows the remote user to navigate the server's file structure and upload and download files. TFTP is a simplified alternative to FTP that provides no authentication and is most often used to transfer configurations to and from network devices. But TFTP is not very resilient and use of the "Web Upload" method is faster than TFTP, but should be used when your controller is behind a boundary where ftp cannot be done. FTP is much faster then TFTP and also offers more resilience over slower links.

The "copy ftp" command will even do directories if you put the folder in front of the filename

(Aruba3200XM) #copy ftp: 10.10.10.253  aruba123 /Aruba/ ArubaOS 6.4.0.0_38660 system: partition 1
Password:*********
Copying file:........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
File copied successfully.
Saving file to flash:
................................................................................. ...................................................
The system will boot from partition 1 during the next reboot.
