Question What are the limitations of Airgroup?
Environment This article applies to Aruba Mobility Controllers running ArubaOS version 6.3.0.0.

The  following limitations of AirGroup feature needs to be considered before proceeding with any AirGroup deployment:

  • AirGroup is not supported on 600 Series controllers
  • AirGroup is supported only in tunnel and decrypt-tunnel forwarding modes.
  • Airplay feature on Apple TV does not work when NAT ’ting is enabled on user VLAN interface.
  • If you use ClearPass Policy Manager to define AirGroup users, shared user and role lists and location attributes cannot exceed 240 characters.
  • Role based access control, location aware services etc. are not supported in overlay deployment model.
  • For location-based access using AP FQLN, the AP FQLNs (Fully Qualified Location Name) should be configured in the following format:

“<ap name>.<floor name>.<building>.<campus>”.
The floor name should be specified as floor <integer>
The AP name should not contain any dots ( . ).

Eg:

AP105-1.Floor 1.TowerD.Aruba
