Controller Based WLANs

What configuration is necessary to configure port channeling between an Aruba controller and a Cisco device?

Product and Software: This article applies to all Aruba controllers and ArubaOS versions.

You can configure port channeling for Gigabit Ethernet on the Aruba controller. The port channel generally would be uplink and this channel should be trusted.

For the procedure to configure port channeling on an Aruba controller, visit the Aruba support site and navigate to knowledge base article #139.

Make sure that the Cisco switch platform that is connected to the controller supports the port channeling feature before proceeding with the configuration on the controller.

On the Cisco side, port-channel should be configured as "static", which means you must disable any port aggregation protocols on the Cisco switch.

The following is the procedure to do the same on the Cisco swtich:

C6500> (enable) set port channel 3/5,4/5 mode on
Adding a WS-X6148-GE-TX port to a channel limits the channel's
bandwidth to a maximum of 1Gig throughput.
Port(s) 3/5,4/5 channel mode set to on.
