Product and Software: This article applies to all Aruba controllers and ArubaOS 3.3.2.x and later.
The authenticator sends an EAP ID in each request and increments it with each request it sends. (In the case of a termination or RADIUS server, the controller sends the EAP ID.)
The authenticator uses this ID to match the EAP response from the client.
For example, the authenticator sends an EAP request that has a certain ID, but the request does not reach the client. If the client retransmitted a previous response, the IDs for the response and the request do not match. In this situation, the "EAP ID mismatch" message is displayed in the output of the "show auth trace buff" command.
