Controller Based WLANs

What does "halt" command do when executed?

Environment         This article applies to all Aruba Controllers and ArubaOS version.

The "halt" command should be executed only on a console session as it will terminate any sessions (WebUI, SSH, TELNET) that is being open. The controller will not respond even on the console which would require a manual reset or power cycle to bring the controller UP again.

Immediate shutdown or resetting the controller may cause problems for the processes that would be running in the background. The flash that is used in the controller stores a large amount of information. To speed up the process, however, during runtime, some of this information is copied into RAM.
