What does the BC / MC rate optimization do?

Aruba Employee

Here are a few facts about this option:

·   The option 'mcast-rate-opt' was added to the ssid profile in version 3.2 and higher.

·   It is disabled by default

·   By default, Broadcasts and Multicasts are transmitted by an AP at the lowest configured rate, i.e 1 Mbps in the g band and 6 Mbps in the a band.

·   When this option is enabled, the bcast/mcast data frames are transmitted at the lowest of the unicast tx rates across all the associated stations.

·   Management frames tx rate remains unchanged.
