Q:

What does the blue dot next to a configuration parameter indicates in AOS: 8.x?

A:

The presence of the blue dot next to a configuration parameter indicates the value was overridden such as in the case of a change to the configuration inherited from the parent node or a blank value that was replaced. Clicking on the blue dot displays additional information and provides the option to remove or retain the override.

Example:

In our example we have created a WLAN called "Aruba-Test" under the parent child "bangalore". The forwarding mode is set to "Tunnel" under the parent child "bangalore". Under the Nested Child node 1 "Arubaoffice" this forwarding mode parameter was updated to "split-tunnel". Under Nested Child node 2 "Aruba-Floor" the forwarding mode parameter was set to "bridge"

Now you can see the blue dot on the forwarding mode parameter when you navigate to Nested Child node 2 "Aruba-Floor".

When you click on the blue dot you can see the following message

"This value is set for Aruba-Floor, overriding these inherited values:

bangalore: tunnel
Arubaoffice: split-tunnel*
* Clicking remove override will restore this value"

When you click on "Remove Override" now it will revert it to its previous child node parameter and not the parent child node parameter. In our case it will revert to split-tunnel as per nested Child node 1 "Arubaoffice" and not to "tunnel" as per the parent child node "bangalore" .
